Walnut Crescents

Makes about 3-1⁄2 dozen

These cookies are light and have a wonderful melt-in-your-mouth texture. The recipe comes from Maryann Brady and has been a family favourite for years.

1 c. butter at room temperature
5 tbsp. granulated sugar
2 c. cake and pastry flour
2 c. ground walnuts
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. water
icing sugar

1. In a medium mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar with an electric mixer.
2. Add flour, walnuts, vanilla and water until combined.
3. Shape into crescents. (The dough will be quite moist.)
4. Bake on trays lined with parchment paper (or greased trays) at 325˚F until light golden, about 15 to 20 minutes.
5. Cool and roll in icing sugar.
